The Adventist Development and Relief Agency, ADRA, is among the first nongovernmental organizations to respond to the massive flooding that cut a large swath across the southeast Asian nation. Media reports suggest as many as 50,000 may have perished in the wake of Cyclone Nargis, which hit the nation on May 3, and as many as 3 million may be homeless.

Child Month is celebrated in several nations annually.  This is a good tradition, a time when our children are highlighted, when special plans are made and implemented to improve the quality of life for children.  The month of May is Child Month in Jamaica, in the Cayman Islands and possibly in other countries.  In Jamaica, the theme for 2008 is Our Children, Today’s Investment – Tomorrow’s Gain.
